Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie weren’t the only celebrities at the Clinton Global Initiative in New York last week. Shakira was also in attendance to announce a $40 million dollar donation dedicated to helping Latin American victims of natural disasters. Adding to her impressive generosity, the singer also announced a $5 million three-year project to help impoverished children in the region. While she was in town, Shakira made time to meet with New York’s Mayor Bloomberg to discuss other anti-poverty initiatives. About her philanthropic efforts, she said:

“I believe that some of these issues need a vehicle, a bridge that brings people together and that somehow can affect directly and touch directly our generation.”

It’s nice to see a celebrity matching words with action. And Shakira’s awareness of world issues should definitely earn her an A+ in her Western Civilization course at UCLA.

Once again it’s time to check in with our favorite red headed soon-to-be mom, Isla. She and her equally adorable Sacha Baron Cohen grabbed a bite to eat out in LA on Thursday, only this time she let him be the one wearing the incognito bear hat. Must be crazy for Isla & Sacha how the paparazzi presence has grown so much as she becomes more and more pregnant. It’s good preparation for the frenzy of those first baby pictures. Luckily for them this time around it won’t be nearly of Shiloh/Suri levels, but who knows — at the rate these two are becoming photographer favorites, superstardom (and celebrity baby mania) may be just around the corner.

We’re excited for all of the new fall TV shows, but seeing pictures of Jerry Seinfeld promoting his animated film Bee Movie makes us a little nostalgic. Luckily Jerry is coming back to television next week to make a guest appearance on 30 Rock, but he made us realize that there are a ton of other 90’s stars and shows we really miss. Kate & Ryder were looking like twinsies with their matching hairstyles yesterday in NYC. The mother and son were enjoying the beautiful day at Chelsea Pier. They even spent some time making goofy faces in a photo booth. It’s so crazy to look at Kate and can’t help but see the mirror image of Goldie in her 20s. Crazy how that works, isn’t it?

I may not really get why Drew is so very into Justin Long these days (and really, who cares if I get it or not), but they look absolutely smitten with each other — taking their make out sessions all over LA. So I guess that means the PDA portion of their courtship is still in full swing? These two have been spending a lot of time together these days, but at least if they ever have to be apart judging from his computer affiliations, they’ll always have Justin/Jessica style iChat to keep them close.

Dita von Teese turns 35 today, but she got the party started last night at the Macy’s Passport Gala 2007. Fab has all the details on the party, which helped raise money for HIV. Dita was joined by other fabulous ladies like Emmy Rossum, Brittany Daniel and Ali Landry and apparently she even performed a sexy dance number to finish off the show.
